I was completely new to writing fan fiction and I didn't ship I was pretty strict about it and didn't budge for more than ten years. Same for having fan characters be relatives of canon characters. A confession I will make right now is that I was always opposed to shipping fan characters with original characters from a show/movie/comics/whathaveyou I didn't support it. People's interest in Alys also began to grow and their enthusiasm helped me shape her and form her story through writing and drawings.Īlys was never supposed to be shipped with Joris, or any other canon character. She felt weak, fatigued, as if all her energy had been drained away… but by what? The shapes of wooden furniture began to dawn upon her. She took in her surroundings through long trembling eyelashes, the warmth of her hand soothing the dizziness which swept over her after she abruptly awoke. A hand clutched for her sweaty forehead when the world suddenly seemed to turn upside down, causing her to slump back into a soft pillow with a whimpering groan while unwillingly beginning to put the puzzle together. Her eyes showed the fear the nightmare caused, uncertain if it were memories or just her mind playing tricks on her whatever it was, it had her heart beating ever so fast, almost painfully hammering within her chest. Her chest and shoulders heaved and lowered as she panted, eyes wide in shock while she sought for air in panic. With a gasp she flew upright, nearly throwing the blanket off herself. Chapter 5 of 'Blank Canvas' is that short story which began my very very first fan fiction writing craze though the short story was but half of what the chapter is now (it cut off right before the 'mysterious visitor's introduction'). I never managed to draw the comic but instead the short story grew into my fic 'Blank Canvas' which up to this day consists out of 29 chapters. I wanted to write down a specific moment which I had thought out so I could perhaps draw it out one day in comic form. The very first story I wrote about her back in July 2014 was supposed to be a short story and nothing more. But doing research on him to draw him as correctly as I possibly could tickled my creativity some more and I gave into making the OC which had been poking me here and there over the course of the two weeks I worked on Joris' drawing.Īlys began to grow and develop a story which became bigger as time passed by. I was never really drawn to such, so drawing Joris was a true exception of my habits then. I hardly drew fanart before joining the Wakfu fandom. Though to be fair, my very first Wakfu fanart and which I finished the 8th of June was this baby. This one drawing because I had a character in my head which wanted to come out. It's been great, even with the bad and dickhead moments out there (pardon my French) and yes, again, I have an OC to thank for it. I run a casual blog which has gathered 950 followers over a year time, I have been improving on my art even though my own style was heavily adapted to 'Ankama's / Xa's style' and I have made more friends than I had before I joined the fandom. Alys is super dear to me because it was thanks to her I got so deep into the Wakfu fandom, began looking up all the lore and gotten to the point of where I am now.
or in this case the date on which she awakened from ten years of imprisonment. Because of this particular date, I decided to make it Alys' birthday.
It has been exactly a year since I created Alys and her creation also marks my first day of being part of the Wakfu fandom. Today is the 10th of June, or in Wakfu terms, the 10th of Junssidor.
